Overview

The Google News Initiative (GNI) and International and Media Support (IMS) are funding tuition scholarships to support participation the Journalism Innovation & Leadership Programme, a which offers a suite of part-time, postgraduate courses aimed at fostering leaders eager to innovate – and innovation eager to lead.

There are two award categories:

  • GNI are supporting 15 postgraduate certificate scholarships (one year, part time) to assist the next generation of diverse leaders, particularly those working in local newsrooms and across the Global South.

  • IMS are supporting 2 MA scholarships (two years, part time) to assist grantees and partners of IMS, which is an international, Denmark-based organisation that works with media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition.

How is the value received?

You will receive £2700 for the Postgraduate Certificate and £8,100 for the MA, this is the value of your tuition university fee only and does not include travel or subsistence.

Applications are accepted from candidates whose application to the course has been successful.
