Mentor Information

The person providing support

Mentors will support Mentees on a one to one basis with any issues surrounding student life at UCLan. All our Student Mentors are current UCLan students who have all had their own individual student experience. We encourage Mentor applications from any existing student who would like to provide support to their peers and share their experiences and knowledge.

As a Student Mentor you will be committed to:

  • Make initial contact with Mentees
  • Arrange weekly/fortnightly meetings
  • Completing Contact logs of Mentor/Mentee meetings
  • Attend all training sessions provided by the Student Mentoring Support Team
  • Undertake Personal Development opportunities
  • Complete evaluations and questionnaires

Student Mentor benefits:

  • A role and training which looks great on your CV
  • Certificates of Achievements
  • A rewarding and worthwhile volunteering experience
  • To develop and enhance personal skills
  • To be part of a pro-active and supportive team

If you want to be a Student Mentor, please complete the online registration form and submit it to us. We do ask for a character reference (either a lecturer, personal tutor or member of UCLan staff who has worked with you).

Once you have submitted the form, it will be processed by the Team and you will be invited to attend interview. Successful applicants will be informed of the matching process and training dates. ALL Mentors must attend a mandatory training session before they are matched to a mentee.

If you have any further questions about the Student Mentoring role, please contact the Team at mentoring@uclan.ac.uk or 01772 895012. Alternatively, visit us in Foster Mezzanine 02 (just above the Medical Centre).
