Placements are arranged by the Work Based Learning Team in collaboration with our placement partners and we aim to inform students of their allocated placement a minimum of 6 weeks before the placement commences.
At times, notification may be delayed, or practice placements cancelled at very short notice. This occurs for reasons which are beyond the control of the team (e.g. placement staff sickness, service reconfiguration) and where this occurs staff work to try to rearrange allocation as quickly as possible.
Students can find which placements they have been allocated via the Student Portal
Click on HOME tab at the top, wait for ‘the icon buttons’ to load, then click on MyUCLan study record icon.
In some instances, the placement will not be shown.
The team is awaiting final confirmation from our placement partners. Please do not contact the admin team to chase this. The team aims to optimise their time by working with placement partners in these instances and try to keep phone lines open to maximise these opportunities.
Please contact the work-based learning administrative team. In these cases, immediate action is required as either full clearances have not yet been received (Mandatory training completion, Occupational Health clearance or DBS clearance) and you may need to act to address this or you may have recently returned from a suspension of studies and allocation lists were retrieved prior to your return being recorded on University systems.
Changes to placement allocation do occur for a variety of unavoidable reasons. It is therefore imperative that students check MyUCLan on a regular basis to ensure their placement has not changed.
If a placement changes within 2 weeks of the placement commencing, the work based learning team will notify the student using UCLan email addresses or the telephone number shown on a student’s record. Personal details should be kept up to date on MyUCLan to enable the team to make contact.
