Placements are arranged by WBLTeam in collaboration with our placement partners and we aim to inform students of their allocated placement a minimum of 6 weeks before the placement commences.
At times notification may be delayed, or practice placements cancelled at very short notice. This occurs for reasons which are beyond the control of WBLTeam (e.g. staff sickness, service reconfiguration) and where this occurs staff work hard to try to rearrange allocation as quickly as possible.
Students can find which placements they have been allocated via the Student Portal
Click on HOME tab at the top, wait for ‘the icon buttons’ to load, then click on MyUCLan study record icon.
In some instances, the placement will not be shown.
If the placement is shown as “To be confirmed” the WBLTeam team is awaiting final confirmation from our placement partners. Please do not contact WBLTeam. The team aims to optimise their time by working hard with placement partners in these instances and try to keep phone lines open to maximise these opportunities.
If the placement is blank, please contact WBLTeam. In these cases, immediate action is required as either full clearances have not yet been received (Mandatory training completion, Occupational Health clearance or DBS clearance) and you may need to take action to address this or you may have recently returned from intercalation and WBLTeam has not been fully informed.
Once a placement has been allocated, it will only change where placement partners inform WBLTeam that the placement will no longer be able to go ahead and the allocation may change.
Students must therefore check MyUCLan on a regular basis to ensure their placement has not changed.
If a placement changes within 2 weeks of the student placement commencing WBLTeam will notify the student by UCLan email address or the telephone number shown on a student’s record – therefore personal details should be kept up to date on MyUCLan to enable WBLTeam to make contact.
Please note that if students have outstanding fines with the library or financial services then the student may not be able to access MyUCLan and will be unable to see which placement has been allocated.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure fines are paid promptly.
