Learning Experience Charter

The Learning Experience Charter (initially launched in 2013 as the Placement Charter) was developed as part of a region wide ‘Clinical Placement Strategy’ with learners from different health and social care professions, service users & carers and health & social care professionals reflecting the NHS Constitution, and the shared values that inspire excellence in patient care.

The premise is that excellence in the delivery of health and social care is underpinned by a commitment to providing a safe, supportive and caring environment for all patients and staff…. and excellence in placement learning is underpinned by a safe, supportive and caring learning environment for all health and social care learners. The pledges in the Charter therefore reflect Higher Education England North West’s commitment to achieving excellence in learning and care.

UCLan is committed to providing safe and high quality learning environments for all health and social care learners on placement in all healthcare organisations in the North West and working with placement partners to achieve this.

Adherence to the pledges and commitments within the Charter are monitored through HEE's Education Contract with all healthcare providers in the region, and includes feedback from learners (through completion of PARE placement evaluations), staff and patients.
