This is UCLan's Publishing library page.

For more help and guidance please contact your Subject Librarians: Andrea Evans and Francesca Robinson

To find books on the Library shelves, use Library Search. If the Library does not have the book you want, you can request a copy from the Document Supply Service.

Although many publishing books are shelved in the 070s, the subject is broad and you should also look in other areas.

  • Publishing (070.5)
  • Law (344.0998)
  • Mass Communication and Media (302.23)
  • Writing skills (808.066)
  • Business (658)

In addition to our print collection, we have a growing collection of full-text electronic books

Journals and Articles

Journal Finder provides details of our print journals and e-journals collections. Library Search will find specific articles from journals so is a good place to start, as it searches across thousands of different journals and will uncover articles in places you may not think to look.

eResources and Databases

There is no single database which contains references to all Publishing journals. You will need to look at a range of resources. Useful places to start are listed below:

  • Academic Search Complete
Abstracts of articles from journals in the Publishing field together with other relevant subjects like advertising, marketing, and communication
  • Business Source Complete
Business and Management journals, e.g. Publishing Industry Profiles, Bookseller, Publishers Weekly.  NB some of these will only give the abstract of the article, not the full text.
  • Sage Premier Journals Online
A collection of over 400 full text journals.
  • Science Direct
1500 scientific, technical and medical full text journals.

Should you want to undertake a more thorough search for research materials/literature try searching the following abstract and indexing databases.

Look out for the ‘LinkSource’ icon or the Uclan logo in your search results lists within these databases as this tool will direct you to the full-text of the article if it's available within one of our subscribed services.

  • Nexis contains both full text and abstract records of news and business intelligence drawn from over 29,000 sources including local, regional and national newspapers, newsletters, magazines and trade journals, newswires, broadcast transcripts, company news databases, government and legal documents. Nexis gives the text of articles only - it does not include photographs or formatting.
