UCLan subscribes to a range of additional e-resources, aside from the e-journals, which you will not find freely available on the Web. Within the construction law discipline you may find the following useful:

Law Resources

  • Construction Law Direct
  • Lexis Library -  UK law reports and legislation together with legal journals. It also incorporates the online version of Halsbury's Laws of England; a key legal research encyclopedia covering all aspects of English Law.
  • LexisPSL (Professional Support Lawyer) - a reference service providing guidance on both what the law is and how to apply it in practice. It is delivered in the form of practice area modules with each one organised by topic, containing practice notes, checklists, precedents, forms, and selected cases, legislation and regulatory rules. It is monitored and updated on a daily basis.
  • The Incorporated Council of Law Reporting (ICLR) - provides access to Law Reports, Industrial Case Reports, Public and Third Sector Reports, Weekly Law Reports and Business Law Reports.
  • Westlaw - law reports and legislation from the UK and Europe, together with many legal journals.

Construction Resources

  • British Standards Online - BSOL is the platform for accessing full text BSI British Standards. It includes Pure British Standards, which have a BS prefix, BSI national adoptions of European Standards, which have a BS EN prefix, BSI national adoptions of selected International Standards from ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), which have the following prefixes: BS ISO, BS IEC, BS EN ISO, BS EN ISO/IEC.
  • Building Cost Information Service ( BCIS) - provides a range of building cost estimators, primarily focusing on new builds.
  • Environment Complete - over 1300 journals and monographs in disciplines including agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy and affiliated areas of study.
  • Info4education (Technical Indexes)
    - Construction Information Service - legislation, standards and guidance material on all aspects of engineering in construction facilities management. Access to JCT & FIDIC Contract documents
    - Environmental Management
    - Occupational Health & Safety Information Service
    - Engineer-it and Specify-it
  • iSurv (RICS) - isurv provides access to RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) documents including official guidance, forms and case studies. Topics covered include: building defects, building surveying, commercial property, construction, construction contracts, environment, estate agency, legal aspects, planning and valuation.
  • SAGE Research Methods - a tool created to help researchers, faculty and students with their research projects. It contains content from more than 640 books, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, and handbooks.
