The British Cartoon Archive Digitisation Project has digitised the Carl Giles Archive, the single most important archive of British newspaper cartoons, and a key resource for British political and social history. Thanks to this funding, staff, students and researchers at colleges and universities in the UK will be able to access and use the entire Giles Collection of 15,000 cartoon images, with some 5,000 pages of related paperwork, free of charge for educational purposes.
The links below give access to the cartoon biographies, FAQ, and an overview of the collections. If you would like to search for and download digital images or cartoons these are now hosted on http://archives.cartoons.ac.uk
These images are ppi, to comply with copyright which should be sufficient for presentations and dissertations.
Hi-res images are free and accessible to HE institutions but need to be requested by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
