In addition to our print collection, we have a growing collection of full-text electronic books.  

Journals and Articles

Use the Journal Finder to locate a reference for a particular journal article, for example journals such as ‘Asia Pacific Viewpoint’, ‘French Cultural Studies’ or ‘Interpreting’.

Useful print sources for tracing journal articles relating to German Studies are:

Recommended Resources for Modern Foreign Languages

  • Academic Search Complete A wide range of subjects are covered in this database, and it contains full text links to many articles.
  • Education Database Access to over 900 top educational publications, including more than 600 of the titles in full text.
  • Film & Television Literature Index with Full Text
    With full text for more than 100 journals and nearly 100 books, and abstracts for 350 other publications
  • Historical Abstracts with Full Text
    History and culture of the world (except the United States & Canada) from 1450-
  • Hospitality & Tourism Complete
  • JSTOR is a full text collection of journals. We subscribe to the Arts and Sciences I, II, III, and Complement, Language &  Literature
  • MLA - Modern Languages Association
    Indexes of over 6,000 literature and language journals, as well as books, essay collections, working papers, proceedings, dissertations, and bibliographies, from 1963 onwards.
  • Nexis
    A major full-text online database for current affairs and business information. Sources include newspapers such as Le Monde, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Corriere della Sera, El País or South China Morning Post, magazines and trade journals. Sources are global, with the option to choose a source group by language – French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese – or by global region, e.g. Asia-Pacific News.
  • Science Direct - is a popular database of over 1500 scientific, technical and medical full-text journals. Excellent as a general resource.
  • Social Science Abstracts Abstracts for a wide range of language-related articles from sources such as the ‘Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research’ or ‘Human Communication Research’
  • Taylor & Francis Library - journal subscriptions include 108 titles in the Language and Literature area.
