Weekly Mindfulness Sessions for Students

We all have mental health which needs care and attention even when things are going well and taking care of it becomes even more important in difficult circumstances. Mindfulness promotes kindness and compassion towards our own self and can be weaved in to aspects of our daily lives.

Running from Wednesday 7 October 2020 until Wednesday 25 November 2020 for 1 hour between 12:00pm and 1:00pm.
The sessions are interactive. This means that we will do an exercise and you will be invited to give feedback on your experience of that exercise. You do not have to do this, but it does form an important part of how we learn through that discussion. You may also feel more comfortable giving the feedback through the ‘chat’ option.

These will be held via Microsoft Teams. You will need to book on as they will be held by meeting invite. Please email and put ‘Mindfulness’ in the subject box. I will then add you to the meeting series and you will receive an invitation which will allow you to join any of the meetings that you wish.

Microsoft Teams is a free chat, video calling and collaboration platform. Teams supports the delivery of video or telephone appointments, to support the Public Health England social distancing advice. You can get Microsoft Teams on all your devices. They have desktop apps for Windows, MacOS, and Linux, as well as mobile apps for iOS and Android.
This is not a closed group, and is open to UCLan students.
Due to it being held as a meeting on Teams, please be aware that others will be able to see your user profile. You may also choose to have your camera on or off.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is about paying attention to the here and now by using what we can hear and see, or feel, in the world around us. It is about being curious about our experiences and our responses to them.
The sessions will involve short practices and exploration of these.

Sessions are facilitated by Stuart, a member of the University counselling team.
