A course of online sessions utilising creative, expressive, and reflective writing for the purpose of supporting wellbeing.
You are invited to engage in writing practices which allow you to explore and express aspects of their experience in creative ways. Using images, objects, and texts as starting points, you will be offered ways to explore and express thoughts and feelings through imagery, metaphor, and story.
The course consists of 8 weekly sessions, each lasting 2 hours, for a maximum of 8 participants.
All sessions will be facilitated by a counsellor from the UCLan Counselling Team. The aim is to provide a safe space for exploration and expression, and for meaningful engagement with others.
The group will take place online using Microsoft Teams.
The sessions are available to any student at UCLan wishing to increase their sense of wellbeing, and who is open to experimenting with creative writing. No experience of creative writing is necessary; the aim is to enjoy the wellbeing benefits of writing, with the focus on process rather than technique. Writing in this way can relieve stress, increase self-contact, and provide new perspectives. Each session combines individual writing with group reflection and discussion.
