Free Sports Membership

All UCLan students based at the Preston Main Campus are entitled to a FREE Sports Membership as part of their tuition fees.

What is the offer?

The FREE Sports Membership gives access to:
• Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre
• UCLan Sports Arena
• Activities delivered by University sports staff including exercise classes/fitness suite instruction

We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre from Monday 14 September.

Your patience and understanding is appreciated as we have changed our usual operations to ensure you can enjoy a safe experience. We have a range of measures in place to help keep you safe including:

• Keep left systems in all buildings
• Hand sanitising stations
• Face coverings must be worn inside of the building, except when you are in the activity areas: e.g. the fitness suite, sports halls and studios
• Shower facilities and changing rooms are only available for people with disabilities or additional needs
• Personal items can be placed in the lockers only whilst you are using the facilities

Bookings

All activities must be booked in advance by calling 01772 895400 with bookings available from Monday 14 September. Bookable activities include:
• 50-minute Fitness Suite sessions
• Other activities will be added in the future

Your account will be activated once you have watched the induction video

UCLan’s Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre is a multi-million pound state-of-the-art sports centre. The complex consists of a double sports hall, fitness suite and cardio-zone, activity studios, squash court and changing areas. The centre has hosted major events such as Preston City Games, 6 Nations Junior Table Tennis Tournament and the University BUCS finals.  

UCLan are giving you FREE sports membership to promote health and fitness across campus. Your sports membership gives you access to all the facilities at STFSC and UCLan Sports Arena. Classes, fitness Suites, team games, racket sports, fitness assessments, competitions and events, and much more. You can join anytime at STFSC or USA. Find out more about STFSC.

UCLan Sports Arena is one of the region’s best multi sport facilities providing two full size floodlit all weather Hockey pitches, six floodlit 5 a side Football courts, Tennis & Netball courts, a 1.5km Cycle track, Technogym fitness suite, state of the art Strength & Conditioning facility and an 8 lane fully equipped Athletics Arena. And all this is FREE for UCLan students and staff.

To use the excellent UCLan Sports Arena facilities, UCLan students, staff and alumni must have a sports membership.

How do I apply?

Just come to Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre or UCLan Sports Arena at any time with your UCLan ID card and we will activate your Free Sports Membership. Eligibility will be verified by staff.

Who is eligible?

All students at Preston Main Campus.
This includes:
• Year 1, 2 & 3
• Part-time students
• Year 0
• Bursary students
• International Students (including Exchange)
• Students on short courses
• Postgraduate research and taught students
i.e. all students with a UCLan ID card indicating University Main Campus.
Students at Partner Colleges can access STFSC and UCLan Sports Arena by paying the appropriate fee.

The Free Sports Membership does not include any activities organised and funded by the Students’ Union such as joining a sports club, competing in British University College Sport, GetIn2, Students’ Union Leagues or any other activity the Students’ Union may organise.
