The University aims to provide a safe and secure environment for all staff, students and visitors and their property whilst at the same time providing a rapid response to emergency situations and incidents.
The University provides trained, experienced and licensed security personnel 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, who provide:
• Regular patrols around the University and its premises
• Rapid response to emergency incidents and requests for assistance
• CCTV monitoring & escorts
• Permanent point of contact
• Personal safety advice, preferred routes, key holding etc
• Out of hours access and welfare checks
• Trained first aiders
• Lost Property

Whilst the University always uses its best endeavours to ensure safety, and actively promotes safety measures to students, each individual has a responsibility to themselves and their colleagues to ensure they follow basic safety guidelines and are vigilant.
Above all, it is imperative that any incidents, suspicions or fears are immediately reported – if we are not aware of a situation we cannot assist. You can report any incident, raise a request for first aid or report an emergency by using the SafeZone app.

If you’re working late in the library and live in a PR1 or PR2 postcode area then why not use the Free Late Bus service to get you home between the hours of 10pm and 4.30am?
Pre-booking is required which can be done at the Library reception. Bookings are subject to availability and can be made up to 10 minutes prior to departure time.
Proof of student status is required to redeem your booked ticket (UCLan card or NUS Extra card) then hand your ticket to the driver as you embark. If the requested service is full you will be notified at the time of booking and allocated a seat on the next service if required.
