The UCLan Dental Clinic (UDC) opened in September 2012 and provides dental care for students, staff and local residents from across Lancashire and South Lakes.

The £1.3 million facility provides specialised dental services at very competitive prices, as well as allow dentists from UCLan’s School of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education to gain clinical experience on campus – something few other universities can offer.

The Clinic comprises of four general dental surgeries; an oral surgery suite (two surgeries and recovery room) and a ten-chair training suite and is fully equipped to meet both treatment and teaching requirements.

It offers the full range of dental services – from general dentistry for staff and students, through to root canal, advanced restorations, non-surgical cosmetic treatments and dental implants for patients across the region.

There are a number of creatures that live in our mouths. Although most of these are friendly bacteria, however some which collect on our teeth can cause tooth decay and gum disease. We need to keep the numbers of these bacteria down to a minimum to prevent oral disease.

Healthy Tips:

  • Brushing and flossing are the most effective ways of cleaning teeth
  • Brush your teeth twice a day
  • Reduce your sugar intake to reduce tooth decay
  • Visit the dentist every 6 months to make sure that problems are spotted before they get out of control
