Tim was appointed to the new post of Mackenzie Primary Care Research Fellow in November 2017, and is interested in allergy, asthma, and improving quality of primary care. He also works as a GP in East Lancashire where he remains active both clinically and training.
Tim is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI).
Tim has a background of over 10 years in general practice, which has included supervision of doctors in training. Alongside this, he completed a part-time MSc in Allergy at Imperial College London (ICL), including study on related conditions such as asthma, eczema and irritable bowel syndrome, and gained a distinction. His dissertation, looking at the effects of probiotics on respiratory infections in asthmatics, led to him being the first recipient from the course to be presented with an ICL Dean’s Prize for his work. He continues to practice as a local GP and is developing an interest in innovation in primary care. He was appointed to the new position of Mackenzie Primary Care Research Fellow in November 2017, for a 2-year period, and is hoping to develop a future PhD project around asthma in primary care, as well as collaborating on other work.
