Full Profile

Champika is currently working as a Professor in Facilities Management in the School of Engineering. She is also the Co-director of the Centre for Energy, Sustainable Development and Resilience at UCLan. She carries out many key roles within the school.

She is the Research Degree Tutor within the Civil Engineering and Construction (CCE) side of the School of Engineering. As part of this role, she is responsible for recruiting and managing PhD students in CCE. Champika is also the MSc Dissertation Coordinator within CCE, where she supports, guides and manages MSc students (both in UCLan main campus and in UCLan Mauritius) in Project Management, Construction Project Management and Building Conservation and Adaptation courses. Champika is the Chair of the Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team (SAT) set up for the School of Engineering as well the REF lead for UoA 13 in Architecture and Built Environment.

Furthermore, Champika is actively involved in a wide array of research relating to sustainability; facilities and infrastructure management; and capacity building in disaster resilience. She has published over 150 peer-reviewed publications (journal and conferences papers) to-date and is involved in many international research projects funded mainly by the European Commission.

  • B.Sc. (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2001
