Subject Areas: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
Nicola Walker (Cambridge CELTA , Trinity Dip TESOL, MA TESOL) is an Associate Lecturer in English for Specific Purposes. She is a member of the TESOL team in the School of Humanities, Language and Global Studies. Nicola teaches English for Academic Purposes and is also a TESOL teacher trainer. She is currently a member of the UCLan ESB exam team and is involved in writing and editing papers and leading standardisation events.
Nicola started at UCLan in 2007. During that time, she has worked as an Assistant Director on the Pre-Sessional course and a lecturer on the TESOL Degree and CertTESOL courses. She has worked for the WISER Team providing study skills tutorials and workshops, helping students develop their academic skills at UG and PG level. More recently, she has been working for the ESB and UCLanEB exams.
Prior to lecturing at UCLan, Nicola taught EFL and exam preparation classes for IELTS, FCE, CAE and CPE in the Czech Republic and New Zealand. She then moved back to the UK to teach English in Cambridge and later became an Assistant Director of Studies at EF, Manchester and a Course Director for In-Lingua, Manchester.
Her area of interest lies in TESOL materials development and materials adaption.
