Mike served as a police officer in the Lancashire Constabulary for 30 years. During this time he worked in various roles including training. He also worked with law enforcement officers in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Thailand, and was a member of a number of national and regional committees.
Mike worked for the Lancashire Constabulary as a police cadet, police officer and member of police staff for a total of over 38 years. Mike’s career as a police officer was spent in uniform – either in division or in specialist headquarters departments. His final post was head of the Corporate Planning Unit responsible for the internal planning cycle.
Throughout his service Mike has had an interest in police training. As a police officer he was a manager in the Force Training Centre and, as a member of police staff, was the constabulary’s training evaluation officer. He has a master's degree in education. He has worked on Home Office committees for evaluation and for the IPLDP, and as a training consultant to overseas police forces and the UNDCP in Southeast Asia, and for the International Committee for the Red Cross in Bangladesh.
