Full Profile

A practicing Physician Assistant in the United States relocated to the Isle of Man in 2011. His PA experience began in 2002 in a clinical practice in Phoenix, Arizona seeing young patients in group homes and shelters throughout the city and surrounding area.

He then worked in internal medicine specialising in perioperative care for patients undergoing elective joint arthroplasty, providing preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care in both clinic and hospital environments. He was then asked to join a well-established, highly reputable rheumatology practice in 2006 where he continued seeing patients in clinic and assisting in rheumatology consults for hospitalized patients. He worked under the supervision of Dr. Paul Howard, MD, FACP, and also taught joint arthrocentesis with a core group of rheumatologists at annual conferences for the American College of Physicians.

Prior to earning his master’s degree as a physician assistant, he was a certified Medical Technologist working in a pathology lab in Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. He began in phlebotomy after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Arizona State University, and progressed through several laboratory positions ultimately attaining his MT certification. After having achieved career satisfaction in hospital laboratory science, he decided to pursue a career in clinical medicine.

He continues his PA certification in the USA, and has been a member of the RCP Faculty of Physician Associates since its inception in the UK. He has been working to expand the role of Physician Associates in the UK before being offered the privileged opportunity to become a UCLan faculty member at Westlakes and also work at West Cumberland Hospital to help provide healthcare to the people of North Cumbria.
