Animation Industry professional since 1985. 2D Animator, Directing Animator, Animation Series Director, Storyboard & Layout Artist, Character Designer, Illustrator, Script Editor and Animation Gag Writer. Specialist areas: Children’s TV Series & Specials, TV Commercials, Title Sequences and Character Licensing. Lecturing in Animation since 2014.
Mark is a Traditional Hand-Drawn and Digital 2D Animator, Animation Director, Storyboard & Layout Artist, Character Designer and Illustrator, having originally studied Typographic Design and Illustration. He is a Lecturer for the Animation BA and MA courses.
His work in Childrens TV Series as Animator, Directing Animator and Series Director include ‘The Raggy Dolls’, ‘The Forgotten Toys’, ‘William’s Wish Wellingtons’, ‘Angelmouse’, ‘Bounty Hamster’, ‘Snailsbury Tails’ and ‘Muffin the Mule’.
He has produced animation for many TV commercial clients including Morrisons, Park, British Gas, The York Dungeons, Chessington Theme Park, Marks & Spencer, Privilege Insurance, Payingtoomuch and ChillFactor-e.
Mark was a Key Animator the Christmas specials ‘The Forgotten Toys’, ‘Second Star to the Left’, ‘So Many Santas’ and the Children’s BAFTA awarded ‘The First Snow of Winter’.
In 2012 Mark successfully pitched the animated pre-school sign language concept ‘Tiny Tumble’ to the BBC. The 20 episode series is still regularly broadcast on the CBeebies channel. Illustration commissions have included online Christmas and Halloween campaigns for Shop Direct/Woolworths, numerous submissions for BBC childrens magazines Playbox, Playbox Puzzles and Kathy Lette’s ‘Girl Talk – In the Pink’. Mark has also produced numerous small woodblock prints, one of which, ‘Ribble Valley Winter Scene’ is in the permanent collection of the Lancashire Museums Service.
Mark continues to produce animation and illustration work around his lecturing commitments.
