Lizi was seconded to UCLan in 2007 from Northwest Ambulance Service where she took over as the course Leader for the BSc (Hons) programme. Since then she has become a substantive member of staff and has developed the Dip HE in Pre- Hospital Care. Still an operational paramedic Lizi engages with an enthusiastic passion for Pre- Hospital Care which is reflected in her work with College of Paramedics.

She is also working with the College of Paramedics on curriculum design and mentorship.

Full Profile

Lizi joined Lancashire Ambulance Service in 2000- she quickly qualified as a technician and went on to become a paramedic, her interest in education saw her qualify as a Clinical Paramedic Tutor and a Thrombolysis practitioner. She gained her decontamination certificate and her PHPLS award in 2005. In 2006 Lizi was awarded her CertEd and she went on to achieve her BA (Hons) in Educations in 2009. The following year Lizi was awarded her Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice and was awarded her Fellowship of The Higher Education Committee. Lizi achieved her Ma in Education in 2013 and is currently focusing her studies on her Doctorate qualification.

Lizi was appointed as the Assistant Director for Professional Standards with the College of Paramedics and is Chair of the Education Advisory Committee.

Teaching activities and responsibilities

Delivery of full curriculum in focus to pre-post reg paramedics. Advanced intervention for adult and paediatric patients. Assessment and management of medical trauma and mental health conditions. Pharmacology pharmodynamics and pharmokinetics. Problem based learning. Ethics and professional engagement. Trauma pregnancy and birth. Community engagement with multi-disciplinary teams.

Marking and supporting students in and out of the university setting. Main school engagement and dental medical emergencies.
