Laura studied Medicine at the University of Birmingham and graduated in 2009.  She completed her Foundation Training at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust in 2013 with some being completed on a less than full time basis.  During this training she acted as a regular communication skills tutor for University of Manchester students.  She also took part in formal teaching sessions such as lectures and informal bedside teaching.

In 2013 she commenced specialty training in Paediatrics in the Mersey deanery.  She subsequently decided to leave paediatrics training in 2016 and worked as a junior doctor in Psychiatry.  Following her early exposure to teaching she was keen to develop a career in Medical Education and was pleased to become a Medical Demonstrator at the University of Central Lancashire in August 2017.  In November 2017 she commenced her maternity leave and she will be returning in early November 2018 working Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  She will be studying for the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education at UCLan in 2018-19 and hopes to continue to study for the Masters.  She aims to become a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy following her PGCert.
