  • Qualified as a registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1993
  • Worked in various hospital settings ( care of the elderly, female surgical) before training to become a School Nurse in 2001.
  • Commenced employment at UCLAN in 2005 in the Common Foundation division managing a large pre registration nursing module.
  • Pathway lead for school nursing
  • Shadowing Course leader for SCPHN
  • Admission tutor for pre registration nursing (adult) for 8 years


Main teaching Responsibilities are on the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Programme, responsible for the r the school nursing pathway of the course. Currently shadowing the present course leader with a view to take over this role in 2016. Runs and manages the core modules for the SCPHN programme

Member of the National Forum for School Nurse Educators (NFSHE)
Attends the United Kingdom Standing council

Other teaching Includes Pre registration Nursing modules with a public health or community nursing element. Enjoys teaching clinical skills to pre registration students.

Taught on the Supporting learning in Multi professional practice since commencing at UCLAN – Teaching qualified nurses the roles and responsibilities of mentoring and assessing pre registration students from a multi professional background.

Eight years experience of the admission tutor role (pre registration Nursing – Adult Field) – which has included organising and developing new processes to meet a growing ….

Prior to starting work as a Lecturer at UCLan, Judith was a School Nurse in Preston covering a large case load in a socially deprived area. Judith is particularly interested in the inequalities in health that are prevalent in such areas. Social aspects of health are the main focus of her teaching.
