Jane has an MSc in Health Informatics (UCLan 2008) and is a Lecturer in Health Informatics.  She has a particular interest in e-learning, research ethics, information governance and data security, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and developing knowledge of Health Informatics across the health curriculum.

Jane is Vice Chair of UCLan’s STEMH Ethics Panel, a Professional Member of the BCS, and is External Examiner for the ILM Certificate in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.”


Following 20 years in specialist mental health service development and management, and the foundation of a mental health advocacy not-for-profit organisation, Jane joined UCLan in 2009 as a Research Assistant with the AHEAD-EU project and then in the Clinical Practice Research Unit;  she worked in the newly-formed Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit as Senior Trials Assistant with responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of trial management operations, and is now a Lecturer in Health Informatics.
