Helen worked as an actor/ director in theatre and television for 10 years, working with a variety of companies including, before joining the UCLan Acting team where she specialises in teaching Stanislavski technique, movement and voice for actors and as a director for third year shows and the Graduate Showcases in London and Manchester.
Helen worked as an actor/ director in theatre and television for 10 years prior to UCLan, working with a variety of companies. Her work as a director has included The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Top Girls, Be My Baby, Women of Troy, Accrington Pals, Welcome to Thebes (UCLan), The Dumb Waiter and Absent Women ( The Greenroom, Manchester) and Journeys End (Greensides & Edinburgh Playhouse) as well as a variety of showcases for Red Door Management (Blackpool Grand Theatre and Studio). Helen was also the director of Essential Theatre Company, a small-scale touring theatre company. She was nominated for the IRDP award for the play Those We Fight and most recently adapted The Count of Monte Christo for stage (Thunder Road Theatre Company in development with Harrogate Theatre). Helen also works regularly at The Lowry Theatre, Salford as a freelance coach and director on their Acting Courses. She is currently working on an American Realism series for them, performing at the Lowry in November 2015.
