Dr. Jules Simo's research interests include orbital mechanics, space mission analysis and design, solar sail mission applications, robotics and autonomous systems, dynamical systems theory. Recent work focused on the guidance and control of space systems as well the application of multidisciplinary optimisation and artificial intelligence techniques to systems engineering.

Dr. Simo is open to Ph.D. applicants with strong backgrounds in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Physical Science.

Dr. Jules Simo is a Lecturer for MEng/BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering in the School of Engineering and at the University of Central Lancashire, which he joined in 2015 following five years as an Academic Visitor at the Advanced Space Concepts Laboratory at the University of Strathclyde (UK).
In 2007, he was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship under the European Commission (EC)'s Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). Prior to gaining a research fellow post in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, where he also completed his Ph.D. on the Dynamics, Stability and Control of Displaced Lunar Orbits. He was a research assistant at the University of Paderborn in Germany. He studied Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at the University of Yaounde in Cameroon and the University of Paderborn.

Dr. Simo acts regularly as reviewer for scientific journals (e.g., Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, Advances in Space Research).
