Dave Orr is a senior lecturer in criminology at the University of Central Lancashire, where he has been one of the team responsible for writing and delivering the criminology degree at the University. Prior to this, Dave lectured at the Centre for Studies in Crime and Social Justice, Edge Hill.
Following the completion of his master's at Edge Hill in 1999, Dave set up the online Hillsborough disaster archive for the Centre for Studies in Crime and Social Justice, and worked on the ESRC funded national Violence Project with the historian Dr John Archer. Dave’s own research has largely been historical, class based analysis of the prison system and criminal justice in the nineteenth-century England and Wales. Dave has written on children, sexuality, ‘mental illness’ and criminal justice in early nineteenth-century London, Sex trafficking and corporate crime, and is a member of the European Group for the Study of Deviance and Social Control.
