Claire is a senior lecturer within the area of forensic science. She graduated from UCLan with a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Science and Criminology, and MSc (by Research) in Forensic Science, and a PhD in Forensic Science investigating the chemistry of inks. She has a specific interest in fraud and document analysis, but teaches many aspects of forensic science and is involved in different research projects within the School.
Claire graduated from UCLan in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) in Forensic science and Criminology, where she became interested in fraud and document analysis. Claire returned to the University in 2007 to complete a Masters Degree by Research in Document Analysis, in collaboration with the Netherlands Forensic Institute. Claire worked on a project to discriminate between paper samples using different analytical techniques including TLC, HPLC, XRF, XRD, IRMS and Raman. Whilst teaching on the forensic degree courses in the School, she continued her studies and completed a PhD in 2015 investigating the chemistry and ageing processes of inks. Claire works regularly with the Lancashire Forensic Science Academy supervising student dissertations.
