Carol started work at UCLan in January 2019 as an Outreach Educator on the Social Work Degree Apprenticeship.  Alongside this, she worked as an academic advisor on the Think Ahead Programme and contributes to teaching on the Social Work Degree Programme.  Her particular interests are in mental health, practice education and work-based learning.

Carol is HCPC registered and a BASW member.

Full Profile

Carol qualified as a social worker in 2013, after working within a social inclusion service for people experiencing mental health difficulty.  Prior to that, she taught English as a foreign language and has a business background in pharmacy.  Following her social work qualification, Carol was employed as a care coordinator within a local authority mental health complex care and treatment team.  She trained as a dialectical behaviour therapist and worked within the personality disorder managed clinical network.  In 2016 Carol qualified as a stage 2 practice educator and has independently supported over 50 students from different universities.  She retains an independent practice delivering social work practice education to students, maintaining proximity to current practice.
