Alia joined UCLan in 2001 supporting community groups on the substance misuse research programme and since then has been involved in a range of research projects.
She is a community development practitioner with hands-on experience of setting up and managing community based regeneration projects including a health resource centre and a training centre for Asian women. Prior to joining UCLan she was running her own consultancy and training business and has worked in South East Asia and North Africa.
