Exercise Classes


Everybody welcome, classes cater for all abilities so come and have a go!

There are a wide variety of Fitness Classes to choose from each week. We run 3 types of class:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Conditioning
  • Relaxation

The classes are open to all Students, Staff and Alumni at UCLan. They are free with a Sports Membership or you can pay per class (£4 per class).

Class Descriptions

Mind and body

Yoga: Classic yoga using blocks and mats to help you align your body and achieve harmony of body, mind and spirit.

Yolates: Floor and standing exercises incorporating Yoga and Pilates poses to develop the body in a balanced way with deep relaxation and meditation.

Vinyasa Yoga: A faster paced yoga as the postures are linked together in a series of movements that are synchronised with the breathing. The continual movements, from one pose to the next gives you an added cardiovascular benefit.

Tai Chi: An internal martial arts with gentle movements for relaxation, balance and health.

Ab Attack: 30 minutes of ABSolutely everything you need for a complete core workout.

Legs, Bums & Tums (LBT): Lovely legs, beautiful bum and a terrific tum. All in one workout.

LBT Camp/Step: All the benefits of your normal Legs, Bums and Tums workout using a step.

Get Stronger

Strong by Zumba: it is a high Intensity Interval Training class using more traditional fitness moves for a more athletic, conditioning-style workout. You use your own body weight as resistance to achieve muscle definition.

Women’s Weights: Your chance to workout in the gym and get to grips with the free weights area, with technique tips, whilst building your strength.

Studio Weights: Want to use free weights? Want to tone and burn calories? Don’t want to train alone? Studio Weights is for you!

Boot Camp: A 30min blast. This hard-working session will work the heart and lungs and give almost every muscle in your body a workout. INTENSITY gets results.

Boxercise: Jab, punch, uppercut, duck! A challenging workout using pad and gloves.

Morning/ Afternoon Blast: This is how we wake up at STFSC! A 30min conditioning session in the fitness suite, come down and get involved.

POUND FIT : ROCKOUT WORKOUT! Is the world’s first cardio jam session in-spired by the infectious, energizing and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums.

Spinning: A high intensity calorie burning workout on our own Tour de STFSC.

Zumba: Party time with Latin and International music and rhythm.

UCLan Run Together: A beginners group that will build your running ability and confidence to 5km and beyond.
