Many of our post-16 activities focus on giving students a taste of what it is like to study at university, giving them valuable experience of the teaching styles they will encounter from a range of subjects they may choose to study.

UCLan on….

Audience: Year 12 and 13

Students in Year 12 studying a minimum Level 3, are adjusting to the changes in learning and teaching styles and the increased independence on offer. Mentors at UCLan will help them to carry out thorough investigations into their skills and endeavour to match them with suitable careers and courses.

Practical sessions based on specific subject areas, throughout the autumn and spring terms. The events run between 10am – 2.30pm

Charlie was part of the team that designed the EvoFIT system which is successfully used by police forces around the world.  Professor Frowd will talk about how his work helps the police with their enquiries.

Health and Social Care (Top-Up degree) Experience Day

Would you like to top up your Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care (or related subject) to a full degree?

The University of Central Lancashire provides a Top-up degree (Level 6) in Health and Social Care at our Burnley Campus. The course runs one day each week on Fridays for one academic year. Current and previous students have found this fits in well with other commitments.  Visit our Experience Day to find out about the course, as well as academic, financial and wellbeing support available.

Neuroscience

Experience the journey of the brain by examining the brain from an outside perspective, considering ways in which we can measure general brain activity, what this tells us and a consideration of different approaches through finer and finer levels of detail to the point at which we are looking through microscopes at the brains of flies.  Over the course of the day we’ll look at what we look for in a neuroscience applicant, the student experience of the course and a range of different research topics that are considered in the course.  Aiming to open up students with an interest in biology, chemistry and psychology to the exciting world of Neuroscience.

UCLan Degree Shows: School and College Day

9.00am – 4.00pm

This day is the best time for prospective students interested in a career in the creative industries to visit UCLan. In addition to our extensive architecture, design, fashion, fine art and media exhibitions, we also have a selection of workshops and the fashion show choreography rehearsal. We recommend early booking, especially if you are interested in the workshops, which have limited capacities.

Lancashire Arts

Exhibitions: Explore the extensive exhibitions in architecture, design, fashion, fine art and media. A student ambassador will guide your group around campus to the exhibitions of most relevance to your students’ creative interests.

Fashion Show Choreography Rehearsal: See a dry run of our stunning catwalk show, as previewed at Graduate Fashion Week in London, with professional models, industry stylists, music and choreography.

Workshops: Experience interactive workshops on a range of topics with our team of creative arts lecturers. A personalised programme will be developed for your group dependant on your students’ creative interests and workshop availability.

This event is aimed at post 16s. Large groups will be split into smaller groups of no more than 20.

GREAT NORTHERN CREATIVE EXPO

We invite you to enjoy the Great Northern Creative Expo and the opportunity to share time and space with other talent makers, writers and creators.

UCLan are celebrating the sixth annual Great Northern Creative Expo, a celebration of culture and creativity.  We have a rich programme of events throughout the month of November.  Why not come and learn from the expertise and knowledge of individuals already highly successful in their chosen fields and wonder at the talent show from our students as they embark on their own careers.
