Teacher training
Teaching is a challenging but rewarding profession, one where you will use your enthusiasm and talents to really make a difference to your students’ lives. Our courses will equip you to educate and influence your learners and help them fulfil their potential.
The UCLan Teacher Education Partnership offers you the exciting opportunity to study in one of 10 colleges across the North West region and gain a PGCE or Certificate in Education for the 14+ age group. You can study full or part time and we also offer shorter certificate and ‘taster’ courses. You will be undertaking the programme at a franchised college centre with highly experienced teacher educators. You will also be enrolled as a student at the University of Central Lancashire and have the same entitlements as a student attending the University’s Preston Campus including access to the Library and Learning Resources Service, Student Services, Student Loans and membership of the Student Union.
"It’s good to have been able to share experiences in class with other trainee teachers who teach different subjects in different placements."

PGCE and CertEd
UCLan programmes are designed for those wishing to pursue a teaching career in the 14+ education sector. Course are available on full time and part time routes. Please see the course pages for details of the courses available at each college. Whilst these are not school teaching qualifications there are employment opportunities, particularly for teachers of vocational subjects, in some schools as well as many opportunities in the traditional further education sector of colleges, sixth forms and training providers. Both courses are full teaching qualifications that meet the requirements of the professional standards. The PGCE is for honours graduates and the CertEd is for applicants who have a level 3 qualification in their subject.
