The Language Academy offer a range of academic and professional English courses for non-native speakers of English. All courses are designed and delivered by our team of experienced English language specialists to support the development of all learners. The courses are designed for adult learners and students must be 18 years or older prior to the start of any course.
This course aims to provide students with the learning tools and study techniques for success on their chosen UCLan degree programme(s).
Students who successfully complete the Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes course, at the required level for their chosen degree programme, will be deemed to have met the English language requirements for their course at UCLan and will not need to take an additional IELTS test to gain admission.
The University have introduced an English Language Support Service to help assist with the language needs of International and European University students and members of the public.
There are a range of opportunities to improve both academic and general English with taught yearlong modules, regular ‘drop in clinics’ and workshops as well as General English classes supported by trainee teachers under supervision.
The Winter and Summer School courses are designed to offer students the opportunity to join an active English language learning programme.
Themed classes are designed to focus on improving student’s speaking and listening levels and develop their confidence in English. We also focus on vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing.

The Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Cert TESOL) course gives inexperienced teachers an internationally recognised initial teaching qualification and provides trainees with the knowledge and skills required to begin careers in TESOL/TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
Trinity Cert TESOL is validated by Trinity, and the certificate is recognised by the British Council both in the UK and abroad.
