How to prepare a paper for LUBMAT 2023

These instructions are presented in the layout required for papers for LUBMAT 2023. Papers should be limited to ten sides of A4.

Papers should be submitted to the organisers in both Microsoft Word and pdf format using the family name the main author as part of the paper filename.

A paper preparation template can be obtained by email from LUBMAT-Conference@uclan.ac.uk if required, but please note that authors will receive a template for paper preparation when notifications of acceptance are sent out.

The instructions below are in order of the paper structure.

  • All font text should be Avenir Next LT Pro, all margins should be 2.54 cm. Auto spacing before and after all paragraphs should be set to zero.
  • The paper title should be centre justified and written with the first letter of each main word capitalised in size 16 bold font. Two blank size 11 lines should follow.
  • Author names should be centre justified, written in size 11 font with first name initials followed by the family name (for example: J. Smith). One blank size 11 line should follow.
  • Author addresses should be centre justified and written in size 11 font. Where authors are from more than one institution, affiliations should be indicated by number superscript(s) next to the author’s name (e.g., J. Smith1) with the superscript also used to identify their address. One blank size 11 line should follow.
  • Using left justified, size 10 font text, please list up to 4 keywords, including at least one from the six main LUBMAT topics and at least one from the sub-topic list as presented on the conference website. Three blank size 11 lines should follow.
  • The word “Abstract” should be written in bold capitalized text and followed by one blank size 11 line.
  • An abstract of the paper, around 100 to 150 words long, should be presented, justified at both sides and written in size 11 font. One blank line should be used between each paragraph. Two blank size 11 lines should follow.
  • Section titles should be presented in size 11 bold capitalized text and numbered in order, like this: “Introduction” and followed by one blank line. Two blank lines should follow the end of each section.
  • Sub-section titles should be preceded by one blank size 11 line and presented in bold size 11 text with each main word capitalized, like this: “1 An example of a sub-heading”. They should be followed by one blank size 11 line. One blank line should follow the end of each sub-section.
  • Any equations should be centre justified with one blank size 11 line before and after the equation.
  • Any diagrams and tables should be centre justified. Figure titles should be centre justified and immediately below the figure in size 9 font. Table titles should be centre justified and immediately above the table in size 9 font.
  • A number system should be used for references with the reference number given in square brackets like this “[1]”. At te end of the abstract, the word “References” should be written followed by one blank size 1 line. Details of cited papers should be listed at the end of the abstract in number order. The citations font should be size 9 with one blank size 9 line between each reference. The text should be justified at both sides and single line spacing used.
