This programme was established to build on the previous English Network of Health Promoting Hospitals and the early work of the North West Healthy Settings Programme. In addition to developing national and regional infrastructures and providing resources, it engaged with World Health Organization Collaborating Centres, the Healthcare Commission and other partners to explore research and evidence needs.
