Sally Turnbull, Head of Planning and Insight, Corporate Development at the University of Central Lancashire, is the author of a new report published in January 2018: A Guide to UK League Tables in Higher Education. This report has been jointly published by the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) and the Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA).
The paper looks at what goes in to making up the three main UK university rankings, which are published by The Times and Sunday Times, the Guardian and the Complete University Guide. It considers the similarities and differences between them and the caveats that prospective students, policymakers and higher education providers should be aware of when using them.
The paper is freely available and can be downloaded from the HEPI website.
