UCLan’s Publishing House has been shortlisted for The British Book Awards 2020’s Small Press of the Year
The University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) award-winning Publishing House has been shortlisted for another prestigious industry award.
UCLan Publishing has made The British Book Awards 2020’s Small Press of the Year shortlist.
The Publishing House, which is based at UCLan’s Preston Campus, is the only children’s publisher in the north of England.
Hazel Holmes, from UCLan Publishing, said: “The British Book Awards, or Nibbies, represent the best of the book trade - the UK’s leading creative industry.
“The Nibbies are the most prestigious awards in the publishing industry so making the shortlist shows that UCLan Publishing is recognised by a competitive industry as an exciting small press.”
The British Book Awards are unique in recognising that a book’s success is not down to just one factor. It is the author’s creative genius; it is the publisher’s skill and support and it is the bookshop’s championing. The Nibbies’ Books of the Year are unapologetically about success but not ‘just’ who is top of the bestseller lists.
Philip Jones, Chair of the judges and Editor of The Bookseller, said: “For a second year, this shortlist shows how publishing is thriving across the regions and countries of the United Kingdom and Ireland. The shortlist shows companies every bit as dedicated to their authors as the bigger publishers and with some notable success stories contained in their submissions. It is our pleasure to platform their hard work once again.”
The winner of the regional awards will be announced on 20 March followed by the overall winner on 18 May.
