The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has welcomed Ministerial visitors from China to learn more about the institution and its work in the East Asian country.

The Minister-Counsellor for Education, Mr Wang Yongli, and Mr Feng, the Second Secretary, visited from Chinese Embassy in London to learn more about UCLan and meet with key staff from the university.

During the visit the Education Minister took part in a tree planting ceremony alongside Liz Bromley, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Corporate Planning and International Strategy, Tim Steele, Executive Director International Strategy and Partnerships and Feixia Yu, Director of the Confucius Institute, to symbolise UCLan’s continuous commitment to working in China and to nurture links with the region.

Tim Steele commented: “I was delighted to welcome Minister Wang and provide him with an update on the extensive and wide ranging work UCLan is engaged with throughout China.

“Minister Wang was extremely impressed with our long-term commitment to China, but also recognised that we continue to innovate to meet the needs of the Chinese Government with the development of our Joint School with Hebei University and our alignment to the Chinese Government One Belt One Road Policy.  The visit was extra special as we celebrate over 30 years of partnership with China.”
