Former leading politician and Strictly star will visit UCLan for charity book event organised by SilverDell book retailer

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) will welcome former leading politician, writer and Strictly Come Dancing star Ann Widdecombe to the University for a charity book signing event.

Award-winning independent book retailer SilverDell of Kirkham has secured an ‘Evening With Ann Widdecombe’ which will be held in the University’s Greenbank Lecture Theatre on Tuesday 16 July from 7.00pm to 9.30pm.

The event has been organised to tie in with the release of Ann’s autobiography ‘Strictly Ann.’

At the event Ann will give a special talk and later take questions about her 20 year political career that included time as Shadow Health Secretary in 1998 and Shadow Home Secretary in 1999 as well as life outside of Whitehall, where she has made a number of television documentaries, published four novels and appeared in the 2010 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Tickets to the event are £20 and include a signed and personalised hardback copy of Ann’s new book (RRP £20). Ann follows in the footsteps of leading sports broadcaster Clare Balding and legendary Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook who also visited UCLan last year for charity book signing events organised by SilverDell.

Free parking is available at UCLan and proceeds from the event will go to the University’s Harris Bursary Fund. For tickets contact SilverDell on 01772 683444.
