Professor Peter Seville named Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

The head of the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) School of Pharmacy has been bestowed the highest honour in his profession by being named a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Professor Peter Seville, who joined the University in 2015, receives the title in honour of the outstanding contribution he has made to pharmacy in his 20-year career.  It is one of the most prestigious titles that can be given to members of the society, and one that can only be awarded through peer nominated to reflect the esteem in which the participant is held.

Professor Seville said: “It is a great honour to be recognised in this way.  I was extremely shocked to be told the news and must admit it was an emotional moment.  It’s essentially a mark of recognition from my peers that the work I am doing is advancing the profession.”

Professor Seville was behind the successful accreditation of Central Lancashire’s pharmacy degree and during his career he has also worked with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to develop a student code of conduct used by all UK pharmacy schools.  In addition, in his role of deputy head, he was a driving force behind the setting up of the University of Birmingham’s School of Pharmacy in 2013.

He added: “There have been several highlights throughout my career and this award has made me reflect on some of these many important milestones.  I have always looked up to Fellows of the Society and it makes me very proud to now join that list of people.”
