UCLan’s Lancashire Science Festival takes place between 28 and 30 June

The award-winning Lancashire Science Festival is back.

The University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) free annual event is bringing back some family favourites from previous years and mixing those with the very best in electrifying shows, fantastic workshops, exciting exhibits and hands-on activities.

Titan the Robot is one of this year’s star attractions and he will be entertaining the crowds along with a petting zoo, The Cloud Factory and the Royal Institution’s Feel The Power.

Other highlights include road traffic collision demonstrations, the maths behind Disney and Pixar films plus the animal detectives.

The three-day event offers a wide variety of activities to inspire youngsters about the real-world applications of science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine.

Now in its seventh year, the fun festival will run across UCLan’s Preston City Centre Campus from Thursday 28 June to Saturday 30 June. The first two days are dedicated to thousands of children from regional primary schools while the Saturday is open to the public from 9.00am until 5.00pm.

For the first time, Lancashire Science Festival roadshows will be visiting high schools across the North West to demonstrate the wonder of science and the possible career paths open to teenagers.

"Our award-winning festival had 13,000 visitors through the doors last year and we’re expecting to replicate that again as we look to inspire both young and old alike."

Dr Liz Granger, Lancashire Science Festival Director, said: "We cannot wait for this year’s festival to begin. We’ve got such a great selection of events taking place with shows, workshops and drop-in activities that appeal to all ages.

"It has rapidly become a major educational event in the North West and it’s great to see the mass appeal of a free STEM related festival."

Registration for the free public day of the Lancashire Science Festival is now open. To book your festival passes visit the festival website.
