New business support programme will help SMEs unlock the opportunities of the digital age

Lancashire SMEs are being encouraged to put the official launch of the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) new business support programme in their diaries.

The launch of the European Regional Development Funded (ERDF) programme Transmission will take place on Tuesday 23 January between 4pm – 7pm, at the University’s Media Factory.

Transmission is an innovative leadership and development programme bringing together business leaders of Lancashire SMEs within the advanced manufacturing, engineering, creative and digital sectors. It is an industry-focused programme with an emphasis on real-world learning throughout, designed specifically to equip SMEs with the leadership capacity and capabilities needed to embrace our increasingly digitised economy.

"The programme will provide support to Lancashire SMEs looking to benefit from the potential arising from that by working collaboratively on issues faced by business owners and decision makers."

Situated within the Centre for SME Development this initiative will utilise both industry and academic expertise to engage with leaders in these sectors to develop each other and their businesses.

“The leadership and development challenges for businesses highlighted by new digital technologies also brings with it opportunities for increasing growth and productivity. The programme will provide support to Lancashire SMEs looking to benefit from the potential arising from that by working collaboratively on issues faced by business owners and decision makers,” said David Gardner, Transmission Project Manager.

In addition, the Transmission+ programme, a more intensive version of Transmission, will provide an enhanced level of support for businesses with high growth potential.
