The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Veterinary Technician Anatomy to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the wide variety of laboratories at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will be primarily focussed on supporting Undergraduate and Postgraduate veterinary/laboratory activities within our state-of-the-art science laboratory and clinical facilities in our new School of Veterinary science.
Duties will include the set up and preparation of laboratories, providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and to students studying veterinary Science.
To provide help, support, guidance and advice, for example through demonstrations or inductions to staff and/or students in a group or individually, on the use of equipment and the skills, techniques and procedures associated with the practical use of equipment related to veterinary science.
To liaise with the Technical team, academic and service staff to monitor and develop the service in line with academic requirements and University objectives. You will be educated to Degree level in Veterinary science or have the equivalent experiential learning in Veterinary science.
The successful applicant will also be required to undertake general equipment maintenance and safety checks, equipment inventory checks and updates and providing advice as required. You will need to be a practical person with a keen interest in science and technology, be IT literate and have a working knowledge of veterinary equipment, supported by great customer service skills. You must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with colleagues, staff and students. A degree of manual handling may be involved e.g. lifting and carrying clinical/veterinary equipment. A flexible approach is required to weekly working patterns due to the student timetable.
