Are you ready to help us shape the future of veterinary medicine? The new School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Central Lancashire is the first facility of its kind to open in the county. As we prepare to welcome our first students this September, we're looking for ambitious individuals to take on the challenge of helping us train a new generation of highly skilled veterinary professionals who are committed to enhancing and promoting animal welfare.
We are seeking a qualified practitioner in the field of animal bodies (structure and function) with particular expertise in anatomy, physiology, histology and pathophysiology. Working in state-of-the-art facilities alongside an international team of experienced veterinarians and animal scientists, you’ll lead on designing and delivering innovative teaching while providing outstanding support to students throughout their journey.
Whether you’re based in practice or in higher education, your valuable skills will help us transform students into industry-ready graduates. We therefore have three levels of post to which you can apply most suited to your experience - Veterinary Lecturer, Veterinary Senior Lecturer, or Veterinary Principal Lecturer. For the Veterinary Lecturer level, if you have no teaching experience you will be given access to workshops and other learning activities which will accelerate your development as an academic. If you are interested in the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer role, you can apply at: https://uclan.ac.uk/veterinary-recruitment-jobs
You’ll be joining an international, research-active institution that’s leading the way in modern learning today where you’ll get the opportunities you need to advance your career and expertise, including coaching, mentoring and leadership support. We encourage all colleagues to undertake continuous professional development and you’ll be able to network with fellow professionals and access a huge range of free online courses through LinkedIn Learning.
We offer fantastic benefits, including a competitive salary, generous relocation package and 35 days annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays and 4 extra discretionary days off at Christmas). You will be able to join an occupational pension scheme and have the chance to sign up to an Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) plan. Many roles offer opportunities for flexible working.
We’re committed to supporting your physical and mental health and wellbeing. All staff benefit from discounts on gym membership, dental care, optical care and physiotherapy, plus the chance to opt in to a Medicash healthcare scheme. We also offer free professional counselling, support from our occupational health team, and more.
We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university and we have several staff networks dedicated to championing equality, diversity and inclusion. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who will support our development of a culture that’s inclusive and open to all.
