The University of Central Lancashire is working with local partners to develop modern, innovative veterinary programmes, focussed on producing clinically competent, compassionate, and pragmatic graduates. The School of Veterinary Medicine believes that everyone, regardless of background, has an opportunity to turn their aspirations of a career in animal care into a reality.
We are seeking to appoint applicants to deliver a range of teaching across the veterinary and animal sciences at UCLan. The successful candidate will provide innovative education and student support. Dependent upon experience the post holder will be expected to lead the development and delivery of teaching materials across School postgraduate and undergraduate courses and/or programmes. You will have an experience of teaching and will be keen to develop and deliver a clinically integrated, outcomes-focussed course.
As a self-motivated and pro-active individual, the successful applicant will have an excellent track record of building and sustaining internal and external relationships alongside excellent communication and networking skills. The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge and practical experience of animal and/or veterinary sciences and associated technical and practical skills, with experience of leadership within a clinical or veterinary related setting.
The successful candidate will need to have a Veterinary degree or masters degree in a related subject area or equivalent professional specialization and a Higher education teaching qualification or professional (e.g. PGCHE, FHEA or equivalent), or a commitment to complete within one year of appointment. An industry recognised qualification in leadership or equivalent experiential learning is also a must.
We believe diversity should be celebrated and are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging where everyone's perspectives and lived experiences are valued. We are developing multifaceted approaches to identify barriers and address the lack of diversity in the veterinary profession and higher education. Our vision aligns with the wider University's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (UCLan's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion statement). As an equal opportunities employer, we particularly encourage applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people with disabilities. All appointments are made on merit.
Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
