We are seeking a part time Senior Research Assistant for 0.1 FTE (half day each week), to support a 24-month study that explores children’s anomalous or extra sensory experiences across different cultural contexts. The aim of the research is to inform services that support children and young people. The Senior Research Assistant will support recruitment of participants. Using their knowledge and expertise of anomalous experiences, they will conduct robust literature reviews and support some fieldwork across Lancashire and London with children, young people, parents/carers and professionals. The role presents a good opportunity to develop skills for collaborative research with children.

The Senior Research Assistant will have knowledge and experience of researching anomalous or extra sensory experiences in everyday contexts. Ideally, the SRA will have specialised knowledge and experience of working in parapsychology, transpersonal psychology or a related field. Experience of data management and statistical analysis is required.

Applicants must be educated to master’s degree or higher post-graduate qualification in a related area. They will also have a good honours degree or equivalent. Applicants must have excellent organisational skills with the ability to work as part of a team.

Knowledge of ethical research governance, data protection issues and the implication for research is a must as is a general interest in research in the area of children and young people, social science and consciousness.

The post will be based in the School of Social Work, Care and Community at the University of Central Lancashire, UK.
