The School is seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Teacher to join its clinical academic team. Working predominantly with undergraduate students in the dental disciplines, you will take responsibility for academic teaching, leadership and for the provision of pre-clinical supervision and training, adhering to curriculum / quality assurance requirements. In addition, you will take specific responsibility for teaching dental materials.
The School is rooted firmly within Primary Care and we operate an integrated BDS / Dental Hygiene Therapy programme (DT), along with a range of clinical and non-clinical programmes at all levels across the dental team. Our undergraduate BDS/DT students are located in one of four Dental Education Centres from the second year of their training.
You will be based at Preston but will be expected to travel occasionally throughout the region, to Dental Education Centres and Enhanced Training Practices, including but not limited to Accrington, Blackpool, Morecambe and Carlisle.
We require comprehensive long-term experience of primary care dentistry in a GDP, Clinic, or University, along with experience of teaching within a dental setting. Full current registration with the GDC is essential, as is a formal teaching qualification or willingness to undertake one within 2 years of appointment. Holding a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and a post graduate qualification are desirable.
A team player, you will have the ability to explain and demonstrate practical skills, be IT literate in the use of standard Microsoft packages and will also demonstrate excellent communication skills. We require a commitment both to inter-professional education and to personal and professional development.
The School has a total of 0.6 FTE available for recruitment. The School would ideally like to appoint a 0.6 FTE, but is prepared to consider other working patterns. Please state on your application how many hours/days you would like to work.
