We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit. The aim of the post is to contribute to the design, analysis, interpretation and reporting of randomised controlled trials and other well-designed studies in health within Lancashire CTU and the wider University. To closely collaborate with research teams from within and outside the University on several ongoing, funded clinical trials. To develop their own area of research consistent with the CTU and AHRh research strategy and to contribute to the planned Research Excellence Framework Submission. To undertake methodological and applied clinical trials research, and to a lesser extent contribute to teaching and teaching support within the Lancashire CTU and AHRh.

The post holder will have substantial experience of undertaking statistical research, has taken a major/leading author role in the writing of relevant sections of research reports involving mathematical and/or statistical modelling techniques and have a record of peer reviewed publications or co-authored research reports, commensurate with career stage.

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree in medical statistics, statistics, epidemiology, or related subject (or substantial professional experience of equivalent postgraduate standard and duration).

The post holder will have proficient IT skills particularly in MS Office software (Word, Excel, etc.), be competent in at least one relevant statistical software package (e.g. Stata, SPSS, R, etc.) and have the ability to explain basic statistical concepts, methods and results clearly and concisely with a range of stakeholders.

The ability to work independently and as part of a team on research, development and teaching are essential to the role as well as the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and the ability to plan, prioritise tasks and manage own time effectively.
