The University of Central Lancashire’s Research and Enterprise Service is seeking to recruit a REF Project Officer to support the preparation and development of our submission to Research England’s Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessment. This is an exciting, varied and busy role based in our new Impact and Outputs Unit, which is responsible for REF and KEF preparations, benchmarking research performance, Open Research, researcher development and impact.

We recently submitted our REF2021 return - as well as dealing with a range of post-submission tasks for REF2021 (for example, management of responses to audit queries, evaluation of the REF2021 project, and planning communication activity following announcement of REF2021 results next Spring), the successful candidate will coordinate ongoing preparations for the next REF exercise in 2027/2028 (for example, coordinating responses to Research England consultations, project planning and management of annual research reviews).

The ideal candidate will have experience of proactively managing complex projects, with excellent organisational and project management skills and a good understanding of University research administration/management. They will be able to analyse and present complex information and be able to work and engage effectively with a wide range of staff, from Early Career Researchers to Senior Managers.

The successful applicant will have a good honours degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent relevant professional experience. They will have the ability to convey complex information to different audiences and proven ability to work unsupervised and exercise judgement and initiative.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
