An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Engagement Officer to join the Widening Participation and Public Engagement team. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who will help to deliver the Fishwick and St Matthews Big Local Delivery Plan. You will support local residents in recruiting volunteers within the local community and proactively engage with other community organisations and stakeholders operating in the Fishwick and St Matthews area to identify opportunities for delivering their Plan. This will involve supporting residents in monitoring and evaluating progress by preparing and updating project management documents and providing reports for consideration by the FAM Partnership. It will be essential that you are able to form strong, professional relationships with partner organisations in order to secure the best possible outcomes for local residents.

You will provide high quality administrative support for monthly partnership meetings and quarterly stakeholder group meetings by drafting and circulating agendas, inviting attendees and taking meeting notes. You will also administer new ideas (using an established pro forma) and provide administrative support to final project reporting (using an established pro forma). You will be there to provide advice and support to the Partnership where needed, to help them come up with decisions that will have maximum benefit to the local community. You will also be responsible for maintaining social media accounts and publicising the work of the Partnership throughout the wider community.

To be successful in this role you will need to have recent administrative experience and experience of high-quality community engagement and meeting servicing. You will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal, excellent people skills and the ability to network. You will be highly organised and able to work flexibly. Experience of project management and evaluation would be beneficial for this role.

The successful candidate will have GCSE Maths and English grade C or equivalent qualifications and will be computer literate across a range of Microsoft packages. You will be confident in dealing with people at all levels and be highly motivated with the capability of taking on a pro-active approach.

ABOUT FISHWICK AND ST MATTHEWS BIG LOCAL

Fishwick And St Matthews (FAM) is a local partnership funded through the National Lottery Big Local scheme. The partnership is led by residents and delivers projects and initiatives to improve the local area and services in response to peoples’ needs. This role is hosted and line managed by UCLan but will report into the FAM partnership development group, who will set expectations and objectives. This will be a varied role, embedded within the community and with focus on developing networks and collaboration. The post-holder will have access to a desk at UCLan but will be expected to work in and around the Fishwick and St Matthew areas with other community stakeholder and residents.
